Former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten has entered the tourism space with the launch of Gary Kirsten Travel & Tours, in collaboration with Cape Africa Tours, South Africa.

The company is eyeing rising demand from India for travelling to South Africa. It is likely to market the tourism venture in India during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015.

Over the years, South Africa has witnessed an increase in tourist flow from India. 2013 recorded 1,12,672 Indian tourists visiting South Africa which was an increase of 5.5 per cent from 2012. In 2014, 17,016 Indians have already visited the country in the first two months.

However, the Indian outbound market saw about 60 per cent tour cancellations in the next few months of 2014 due to technical issues and paucity of visa officers in the South African High Commission in New Delhi.
