Hackers accessed DMs of 36 of 130 users attacked last week, says Twitter

Attackers were able to view email addresses and phone numbers of some Twitter users, says company

Twitter on Thursday revealed details of a crypto attack last week, saying the hackers accessed the direct message (DM)  inbox of up to 36 of the 130 targeted users, including one elected official in the Netherlands.

The company said it was communicating directly with impacted account owners and will share updates "when we have them".

In total, 130 accounts were targeted by attackers, 45 accounts had Tweets sent by attackers, 36 accounts had the DM inbox accessed and eight accounts had an archive of "Your Twitter Data" downloaded (none of these were verified), informed Twitter.
