Hunter Douglas to add 22 galleries by 2012

Hunter Douglas India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Netherlands-based Hunter Douglas, is planning to add 22 franchise window fashion galleries by 2012 to its existing 28 galleries in 10 cities across the country.

The company is into window coverings and home improvement products.

Inaugurating its fourth store here on Monday, PK Sundarmoorthy, managing director, Private Limited, said, “We are planning to open the galleries as part of our expansion, mainly in Tier-II cities across the country.” It would open one store each in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada in the state.

The company is aiming to increase its market share to 40 per cent in the next five years from the current 15 per cent in the Rs 800-crore unorganised window coverings market by increasing the dealership network. “We are planning to widen our dealership network and take it to 200 in three years from the current 70 authorised dealers in the country,” he added.

The company is growing at 50 per cent in window covering and 70 per cent in the overall segment annually.
