Iim-C Summer Placements A Success

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) closed its summer placement programme in January. As per the institute, the entire batch has been placed. A total of 77 firms participated in the process.

These included ABN Amro, American Express, Asian Paints, Bank of america, Britannia, Cadbury, Citibank, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Colgate Palmolive, Coca Cola, CRISIL, Deutsche Bank, DSP Merrill Lynch, Eli Lilly, GE Capital, Gillette, Glaxo SmithKline, Hewitt, HSBC (Investment and Commercial Banking), IBM, ICICI, IDBI, Infosys, ITC, JM Morgan Stanley, Johnson & Johnson, among others.

This apart, a total of 20 foreign offers were made to the students. Thirty three per cent of the students went in for jobs related to marketing, 30 per cent took up finance, 16 per cent went in for IT.

 

The institute said that insurance firms and NGOs made a foray into the summer recruitment process this time. Sectors which made strong comeback included automobile, IT consulting and manufacturing.

Inspite of the fact that the I-banking sector is undergoing serious restructuring, 11 students have been placed in summer internships in this sector.
