BS Reporter Mumbai
Tata Motors’ luxury brands, Jaguar and Land Rover, will add the Range Rover Evoque (Rs 49 lakh) to their Pune manufacturing facility to support sales growth in the local market.

This will be the fourth vehicle there, joining the Freelander 2, Jaguar XF and XJ. Production at Pune has tripled since its inauguration in 2011 and the latest development is part of JLR's plan to expand  manufacturing globally, raising its production capacity outside of Britain.

Rohit Suri, president of JLR India, said: “We believe India is a market that offers significant opportunities for both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. The Evoque is already very popular with Indian customers and we will now offer this SUV at an even more competitive price, to to access a wider audience.”

The Range Rover Evoque will be available in a 2.2 Litre SD4 Diesel engine, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW @3,500 rpm and maximum torque of 420 Nm @2,000 rpm. It will be offered in three derivatives: Pure, Dynamic and Prestige.

Ex-showroom Mumbai (Pre-Octroi) for Pure will be Rs 48.73 lakh, for Dynamic Rs 52.40 lakh and for Prestige Rs 56.21 lakh.

All derivatives will come with automatic transmission, front and rear parking sensors with rear view camera, navigation system, fixed panoramic sunroof and terrain response system.

The locally-manufactured Range Rover Evoque is now available for sale, with deliveries expected to begin from early April 2015.

India is one of JLR's top 20 markets, with sales rising by 20 per cent in three years. The company has had a presence in India since 2009. "During this time, the dealer network has increased to 22 outlets across 20 major cities," says a note from JLR.
