JSW Steel, BOC in pact

JSW Steel has signed a long term gas supply contract with BOC India.

The company is a fully-integrated steel plant with units across Karnataka and Maharashtra. They produce pellets to colour-coated steel.

The contract with BOC is for the supply of over 3,000 tonnes per day of gaseous oxygen, nitrogen and argon to meet its demand for gases arising from the expansion of their steel making capacity at Bellary.

For this, BOC is to set up an onsite air separation unit at JSW Steel Works at Bellary which will be commissioned in 2008. The custom-built air separation unit will be the BOC's largest build-and-operate on-site plant in the country.

In addition to meeting the JSW Steel's requirements for gases, the plant will also produce liquid products to meet the growing demand from customers in southern India.
