P Uma Shankar new chairman of REC

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has appointed P Uma Shankar as chairman and managing director effective March 1, 2008. He succeeds Anil Kumar Lakhina who has retired from service.

Uma Shankar, an IAS officer of the 1976 batch (UP cadre), was managing director, National Co-operatives Development Corporation, New Delhi.
