Pioneer's technicians to be trained in China

| A group of 24 technicians from Vishakhapatnam, recruited by Pioneer Elastic (India) Pvt Ltd, will leave for China on an eight-month training in narrow fabric manufacturing. Pioneer Elastic (India) is a subsidiary of Pioneer Elastic (Hong Kong) Limited and a joint venture project of Brandix Lanka. |
| The technicians will be trained at Pioneer Elastic's factory in the Guangdong province in China. Post training, these technicians would be absorbed into various departments within Pioneer Elastic (India). |
| Pioneer Elastic is constructing its factory at the Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC), being developed in the special economic zone at Atchuthapuram in Visakhapatnam. |
| The proposed factory will be a 150,000 sft facility, and is planned as the world's first narrow fabric plant to be constructed using green technology, Charya Somasiri, project coordinator, BIAC, stated in a press release. |
| Brandix Apparel India, the Indian manufacturing arm of Brandix, Sri Lanka, has already begun commercial production (since early 2007) from a temporary facility in the Vizag SEZ. It is scheduled to move to its permanent facility at BIAC during the first quarter of 2008. At full capacity, the facility is expected to employ over 3,000 from Vizag. |
