Prasad Menon to take over as Tata Power MD

Tata Power today announced the appointment of Prasad R. Menon as managing director with effect from October 16, 2006. Prior to this assignment, Menon was the managing director of Tata Chemicals.

Part of the Tata Group for over six years, Menon has played an integral role in Tata Chemicals' growth and development including the merger of Hind Lever Chemicals and the recent acquisition of UK-based Brunner Mond.

A chemical engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Menon has previously worked with the Nagarjuna Group and ICI.

Homi Khusrokhan will take charge as managing director of Tata Chemicals with effect from October 16, 2006.

According to a release issued by Tata Chemicals to the BSE today, Khusrokhan takes over from Menon.

"Between 2001 and 2004, Khusrokhan was the managing director of Tata Tea where he strived to build brands like Tata Tea, Agni and Tetley and played a key role in the company's growth. Prior to his assignment with the Tata Group, Khusrokhan was the managing sirector of GlaxoSmithKline for five years," the release added.
