SilkAir starts Coimbatore-Singapore flights from Oct 28

| SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, is commencing its thrice-weekly service to Coimbatore from October 28. |
| The flights would leave Singapore every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 9.30 pm and arrive here at 11.20 pm (local Time) while flights out of Coimbatore would depart every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 12.25 pm, reaching Singapore at 7.30 am (local time) the same day. |
| The direct service would make for a capacity injection of over 700 seats per week, helping in providing a further boost to Coimbatore's trade and tourism to meet growing demand for more direct International connections to and from Coimbatore, Ramachandra Menon, manager (India )of SilkAir, said. |
| The city makes for the SilkAir's third destination in South India, after Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, he said. |
| Saying that inbound flight into Coimbatore would cater to traffic out of Singapore, Malaysia and China, Menon said that the late evening departures would also facilitate easy connections for customers from Australia and US, which were important source markets of leisure travel to Coimbatore. |
| On expansion, Menon said that with a fleet of 14 Airbus A-320 family aircraft, 12 more would be added soon and another nine in the near future, since the Group offered connections from Singapore to 28 exotic destinations in Asia region. |
