BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad

Hyderabad-based Star Hospital is planning to add 80 beds to its 120-bed facility hospital at Banjara Hills here in the next six-eight months.

“It will costs Rs 15-35 lakh per bed, including the infrastructure, and approximately Rs 12 crore investments will be required for setting up the extended 80-bed facility,” Gopichand Mannam, managing director of Star Hospitals, said.

The demand for better and quality healthcare is huge in Hyderabad as patients from across the country are coming here for treatment. “In view of this, we are planning to add an extended facility within the existing hospital by adding more beds,” he said.

Around 2 million children are born globally with congenial heart diseases. And, nearly 80 per cent of the infants die due to their parents inability to afford treatment, Mannam added.

The success rate is 95 per cent. The chances of a patient requiring another operation is 10-12 per cent, he said.
