Suzlon arm inks pact with Mitsui for 107 Mw windfarm in Australia

Will deliver 52 wind turbines for the Bald Hills windfarm in Victoria

K Rajani Kanth Hyderabad
REpower Systems SE, a wholly-owned subsidiary of wind turbine maker Suzlon Group, has signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract with Mitsui and Co (Australia) Limited to deliver 52 wind turbines with a total rated output of 106.6 Mw for the Bald Hills windfarm in Victoria.

The full-turnkey contract, the first one for REpower with Mitsui and Co, is combined with a service contract for the next 10 years, with a further five-year option, Suzlon said in a filing to the BSE on Thursday.

The company said that the turbines were to be delivered in the second quarter of 2014 while they were to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2015. These turbines are expected to produce 389,000 Mwh (megawatt-hour) of electricity per year, which is enough power over 62,000 homes, it added.

The REpower MM92 turbines, each with a rated power of 2.05 Mw, a hub height of 80 metre and a rotor diameter of 92.5 metre, are destined for the Bald Hills windfarm near Tarwin Lower, two hours from Melbourne in South Gippsland, Victoria, the release said.
