In just three years, Tata Power has helped as many as 10 lakh consumers to save more than 10 lakh units of electricity through its energy conservation awareness programme.

Tata Power Energy Club, the energy conservation programme of the private sector power major, was started 3 years back as a proactive effort to curb the wasteful usage of power and educate the society on the importance of energy conservation.

"It's heartening to note that we have sensitised over one million people across the nation, who in turn have saved more than one million units," Tata Power MD Prasad Menon said in a statement today.

Started in Mumbai, the club today has awakened citizens across nine cities, including Delhi and Bangalore, on the need to conserve energy, the company said.

According to the company, in every city, the response to the campaign has been tremendous and heartening.

These one million citizens have been sensitised to create awareness about energy conservation making it a strong nationwide movement bringing together the youth, parents, teachers and the society at large, it added.
