Vodafone India and ICICI Bank today announced the launch of 'M-Pesa', a mobile money transfer and payment service, in Kerala. 'M-Pesa' is the trademark of Vodafone. The service was formally launched today by Suresh Kumar, operations director - south; S Murali, Business head - Kerala and Suresh Sethi, business head of M-Pesa.
The new service enables access to financial services from the mobile phone. It is available across 14 districts through 1,800 specially trained authorised agents, including 29 Vodafone exclusive stores in Kerala. Using 'M-Pesa' account, customers can deposit and withdraw cash from designated outlets, remit money to any bank account in India, recharge mobile, clear utility bills, among others.
