2 Uzbek nationals held in Delhi airport for smuggling gold worth Rs 44 lakh

Two Uzbek nationals have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valuing about Rs 44 lakh at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi.
The accused were intercepted by customs officials after their arrival from Dubai on Tuesday.
"On personal and baggage search, 14 gold cut pieces total weighing 1.63 kg valued at Rs 44.36 lakh were recovered from the waist belt of the passengers," a press release issued by the customs on Friday said.
The passengers have been arrested and the gold has been seized, it said.
