A huge cache of explosives hidden by Maoists under a culvert was seized by BSF personnel from Boipariguda area of Odisha's Koraput district, officials said.

The recovered items include two landmines weighing 5 kg each, 24 gelatine sticks, 20 electronic detonators, one battery, 35 metres of flexible wire and other materials required for making landmines.

"We had intelligence inputs regarding the presence of the explosives in that particular place. The Maoists had hidden the explosives with a plan to retrieve them in future to attack the security forces engaged in anti-Maoist operations," said DIG (BSF) J C Nayak.

The explosives were recovered safely and no injury was reported, he said.
