Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian's Twitter account was hacked on Monday and there were at least two tweets that linked to an adult hook-up site.
"Looking for someone to share your dreams with? Let the passion into your life! http://bit.ly/2dfLC6i," one tweet read.
As on October 17, Subramanian is being followed by 42,900 people and follow 45 people.
He has last tweeted on October 4.
