A man armed with an air gun tried to enter central office of Reserve Bank of India (RBI)at about 4 PM.
RBI spokesperson said the person was overpowered by the RBI security personnel and handed over to police.
Media reports said that the man fired a shot in the air while trying to enter the building.
The RBI building located on Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road falls under the jurisdiction of MRA Marg police station.
"A man has been detained and enquiry is on", said an official from this police station.
RBI builiding is located in highly sensitive area which has Navy establishments around and is guarded by snipers 24 by 7.
