'Left' bandh a non-starter, Gurgaon normal

| The much-anticipated nation-wide bandh today, called supposedly by the Left parties, turned out to be non-starter. Left parties' functionaries and leaders of central trade unions said a bandh had never been called. It was just mis-reporting by the media. |
| "We don't know from where the media got the idea that there was a nation-wide bandh called today by the Left. We had only planned to hold protest meetings in various parts of the country and send a memorandum to the government," said a functionary of Centre of Indian Trade Union. |
| After a week of turbulence, Gurgaon has returned to normalcy. No untoward incident has been reported In the last few days. Business establishments including shops and malls in the region a reported normal day today. |
| Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, in the eye of the storm, said about 612 permanent employees, 33 apprentices and 144 casual workers reported to work today for the first shift. |
| The turnout for the second shift was not known, but the company said the shift commenced as planned. According to a spokesperson, HMSI will start producing to its full capacity 2,000 units a day by the end of the week. |
