With India having set itself on a path to the long-term target of becoming a net-zero economy by 2070, Prime Minister Narendra Modi committed to the world four distinct near-term targets to be achieved by 2030: (1) improving renewable power generation capacity, (2) greening India’s energy use, (3) cutting emissions explicitly, and (4) reducing the economy’s dependence on carbon emitting fossil fuels.
