Bangalore IT.in to highlight IP development

The focus of this year's Bangalore IT.in, the premier IT show, will be on companies developing intellectual property (IP) in the country.
 
As many as 14 companies engaged in the development of IP will be part of the initiative.
 
An exclusive area at the IT.in event has been declared as 'IP Zone' where the 14 companies will showcase their products and expertise.
 
"The theme for the IP Zone is Innovative India. Visitors to the IP Zone can see how these products are used in daily life. They can also interface with companies' representatives," Karnataka's IT/BT secretary M N Vidyashankar said here on Thursday.
 
Companies like ASL Advanced Systems, Broadcom, GloNetworks, Ittiam, Mistral Software, nCore Technologies, netDevices, NXP, Rambus, SiNett, SiRF, Tejas and Xora will participate in the IP Zone.
 
"IP Zone is an initiative in line with our ongoing efforts to create a supportive ecosystem within India for the growth of high technology developing products and IP," Vidyashankar added.
 
Sadagopan of the International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore will chair a session on innovation on October 31 as part of the IP Zone initiative. It will deal with IP development in the country. The IP Zone will be open to visitors from 10 am to 6 pm from October 28 to October 31.
 
The 2006 edition of Bangalore IT.IN will also have a forum to address the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector. The forum, driven by the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), will seek to review government policy pertaining to the SME sector to resolve critical issues and enable growth.
 
The four-day technology exhibition slated for October 28-31 at the Bangalore Palace Grounds will host over 300 Indian and MNCs. As many as 16 state governments will participate in the event. The special guests include the British High Commissioner to India and the West Bengal IT minister.
 
"Union telecommunications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran and Reliance ADAG Chairman Anil Ambani are yet to confirm their participation for the inauguration of the event scheduled to take place on October 27," Vidyashankar said.
