Bavaria to sign MoU with K'taka today

The German state of Bavaria and Karnataka are to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on April 2 (Monday) to facilitate co-operation in projects in the areas of trade, technology and tourism.
 
The MoU is to be signed by Bavarian President Edmund Stoiber and Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. To explore more opportunities in Karnataka, Stoiber is leading a 40-member high-level economic and science delegation for exploring opportunities to benefit from each other in scientific as well as in economic spheres.
 
"The southern German state of Bavaria hopes to intensify business, research and academic links with Karnataka. The main objective of the MoU is to facilitate favourable conditions for cooperation and collaborative projects in the areas of trade and investment, information and communication technology, biotechnology and genetic engineering, infrastructure, and many other sectors including tourism," said John Kottayil, executive director, India office, state of Bavaria.
 
Stoiber is visiting Bangalore as part of his 10-day South-East Asia tour that included Korea, Vietnam and Singapore. Bangalore is the last leg of the tour. In addition to Bangalore and a few IT companies like Infosys and Wirpo, Stoiber is expected to visit Mysore.
 
Bavaria has a strong presence in India with over 250 companies from all major sectors. Likewise, Indian IT majors Wipro, Satyam, TCS and companies like Reliance, Tata, Dr Reddys and a number of other Indian high-tech companies have started their operations in Bavaria.
