Trying to corner the union government on the issue of corruption surrounding Commonwealth Games and the Adarsh Society scandal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that the resignations by Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan and Suresh Kalmadi were not enough.
On the first day of the winter session of Parliament, the BJP also reiterated its long-standing demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe charges of corruption and cost escalation in the Commonwealth Games 2010.
“The resignations by Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan and Suresh Kalmadi are eyewash. But these resignations also prove that members of the Congress Party were involved in corruption in the Commonwealth Games and had denied property rights to war widows in the Adarsh Society scandal,” said Nitin Gadkari, the President of BJP. He also alleged that the present UPA government was most corrupt Congress ruled government in the history of India.
