BJP to field Varun for campaign

Claiming that it was not bothered by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra joining the poll campaign, BJP on Monday said it would field Varun Gandhi for electioneering.

"BJP is not bothered about Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra joining the poll campaign for the Congress," BJP general secretary and party spokesmen Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

"In fact, BJP would use Varun Gandhi, son of Maneka Gandhi, for campaigning purposes," he said.

"Maneka Gandhi is 'desh ki beti' while Sonia is 'videshi beti'", the BJP leader said.

Former Union minister Maneka Gandhi and her son Varun Gandhi joined BJP in the presence of party president Venkaiah Naidu and general secretary Pramod Mahajan in Delhi on Monday.

Asserting that BJP was not worried over Congress president Sonia Gandhi's "road shows", Naqvi said such "road shows" during the recent assembly polls resulted in Congress losing power in the states. The "road shows" undertaken in Uttar Pradesh and Orissa by Sonia will have no impact on voters, he said.

The BJP is fully prepared to capture the maximum number of Lok Sabha seats from the states, where the Congress president is going to conduct her road shows, he said.

Congress had driven out foreign rulers from the country, while a foreigner will wind up the Congress, he said.
