CII Kerala lines up summits to showcase state's potential

The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)-Kerala has announced its action plan targeting accelerated growth in the state through increased productivity in 2013 -14.

Under this, it would organise a slew of global summits during the year showcasing the state's potential in ayurveda, science and technology and branding.

Addressing a press conference here today, CII Kerala chairman C J George said the major events for the year included Kerala Family Business Conclave, Kerala Finance Conclave, India IT, MSME and Health Tourism summits. The industry body's priority focus areas would be competitiveness, manufacturing, MSMEs, infrastructure, skills and affirmative action and corporate social responsibility advisory services.
 

In the area of competitiveness, CII would lay special emphasis on the development of MSMEs. Towards this, it proposes to establish centres of excellence on competitiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship in the state.

With respect to infrastructure development, it would bring out a report on 'repositioning the national highways in Kerala' to sensitise the importance of wider national highways.

Besides, it will prepare a report titled 'Energy Requirements of Kerala in 2025 and Potential Solutions'.

"We're partnering with the National Skill Development Corporation to prepare a district level skill gap study report to identify manpower requirements in the ascertained priority sectors," he said.

To achieve inclusive growth via social responsibility, CII Kerala would also organise the 'Social Responsibility Compendium of Kerala' showcasing the quality practices in the field of corporate social responsibility he added.
