Despite global efforts, learning outcomes in many countries remain far below desirable levels. Launched in July 2020, the Global Education Evidence Advisory Panel is an independent, cross-disciplinary body set up by the World Bank and the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. Composed of education experts from around the world, its mandate is to provide succinct, usable, and policy-focused recommendations on education investments in low and middle-income countries. The panel’s Smart Buys report, published last month, has many lessons for countries attempting to reduce their learning poverty levels.
