Essential Goods List To Be Pruned Further

The list of essential items covered under the Essential Commodities Act (ECA), 1955 will be pruned further to remove automobiles and automobile parts from it. Announcing this at a press conference today, food and consumer affairs minister Shanta Kumar said this would be in addition to the 12 items taken out of the purview of the Act yesterday.
