Looking to improve the power scenario in Haryana, the state government has a plan to construct 178 substations and augment capacity of 102 existing substations at a cost of Rs 3083.14 crore so as to further strengthen power transmission and distribution systems in the State during next three years.
This was stated by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, after inaugurating a 33-KV substation at Berli Khurd in Rewari district on Tuesday.
He said besides increasing power generation capacity in the state, the government had given priority to strengthening the power transmission and distribution system so as to supply qualitative power.
During the last seven years, the Haryana power utilities have constructed 291 new substations, augmented capacity of 521 existing substations and erected 4203-kilometre-long transmission lines at a cost of Rs 3523 crore.
Hooda said the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam has started construction of transmission system of 400-KV level. The first 400-KV substation has already been commissioned at Kirori village in Hisar district to evacuate power generated at the 1200-MV Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant, at Khedar (Hisar).
