Himachal panchayat report to be examined

The much-awaited third State Finance Commission report for devolution of resources to Panchayati Raj and urban local bodies has presented its report to the Himachal Pradesh government.

"The recommendation of the Commission will be examined by financial experts of the state government for its effective implementation," said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on accepting the report.

"The Himachal Pradesh government was observing strict fiscal discipline to ensure that every rupee was spent properly. More funds were also being made available for carrying out need-based development," the chief minister said on Saturday.

The Commission report was prepared under the chairmanship of Kuldeep Singh Pathania, an independent legislator from Chamba district.
