IISc attack: another terrorist held

Press Trust Of India Bangalore
Another terrorist of Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba has been arrested in connection with the terror attack on the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus here last month, the police said.

Thirty five-year-old Habeeb, an "important LeT activist", was arrested at Almatti in Bagalkot district in north Karnataka on Sunday and explosives were seized from him, Bangalore police commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh told reporters here.

Habeeb, with two aliases, Mehaboob Ibrahim and Chopdar, was in Saudi Arabia from 1993 to 2001, and came in contact with Abdul Rehman, arrested earlier regarding the IISc attack, he said.

He said Habeeb's interrogation revealed that on the direction of Rehman and with the help of others, he planned explosions in the Kaiga nuclear plant, Almatti dam in north Karnataka and Sharavathy power transmission lines.
