Industry hails KERC's 'historic' decision

BS Reporter Chennai/ Mysore
Mysore's industry is happy with the decision of the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) to cut the power tariff for power consumers in the state.

General secretary of KIADB Industrial Area Manufacturers' Association K Ravindra Prabhu told Business Standard, "It is a very good decision. Our stand is vindicated."

At the KERC public hearing in Mysore on October 19 his association had vehemently argued against raising the tariff as the reply given by Escom had contradictions.

Prabhu pointed out that the Chamundeswari Electricity Supply Company (Chescom) had taken a number of faulty, consumer-unfriendly and unscientific decisions like attributing 27 per cent of the failure of transformers to rains and floods, harping on using deficient trivector electronic meters for power factor measurement, inspite of KPTC prohibiting its use.
