Inflation slips to 3.65%

| Lower fruit and vegetable prices pulled inflation, based on the wholesale price index (WPI), down to 3.65% for the week ended December 8, 2007 from 3.75% in the previous week. The annual rate of inflation stood at 5.63% in the corresponding week in the previous year. The index for primary articles declined marginally while two indices - manufactured products group and fuel group - were unchanged in the week under review. The index for manufactured food product sub-group rose 0.1% over the previous week due to higher prices of coconut oil, mustard oil, atta and imported edible oil. |
