As there is huge potential for the development of small-scale industries in and around Kolhapur, a new five-star industrial complex is coming up in the industrial zone in the city.

This proposed private sector complex, when constructed, will be the first of its kind in the western Maharashtra.

Paras Oswal, chief of the Pooja group, which is carrying out the project, said the complex, which would be spread over an area of six acres, will entail an estimated invest of Rs 12 crore. It would house 200 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft units, he added.

Under a single roof, the five-star complex will provide facilities such as power supply, centrally purified water system, video conferencing hall, library, hotel, special internet facility, legal cell and emergency medical services as well.

Oswal said Kolhapur offers good scope for industrial growth as it has now become a flourishing industrial centre, particularly for small-scale units manufacturing spare parts and other consumer products "" both for local consumption and principle manufacturers in the country and abroad.

Young, educated entrepreneurs who have a lot of aspirations surrounding their industrial units do not find a multifaceted space in the Kolhapur city area.

The two industrial estates are far away from the city and space available there is either preoccupied or inconvenient in respect of costs as well as prohibitive rules of the state government.
