Largest heavy water reactor commissioned

| The largest pressurised heavy water nuclear reactor at Tarapur, Maharashtra was commissioned and attained criticality today. This was announced by Anil Kakodkar, chairman of Atomic Energy Commission. The event was also witnessed by national security advisor M K Narayanan. The reactor will produce 540 MW of power, and will add to the total nuclear power generation of 2,770 MW. |
