Maharashtra to replace octroi with local body tax

The Maharashtra government has decided to replace octroi with local body tax (LBT). Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said on Tuesday that LBT has been put in place in some of the civic bodies across the state, although Octroi is present in Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Pimpri Chinchwad.
