Mysore to get Urban Haath centre

Mysore will soon have a 2,000 square feet Urban Haath Centre. Being located in the Hebbal industrial area, opposite the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET), the building, now under construction at roof level, is expected to be completed by December for inauguration in January.
The Urban Haath will be a centre for regular display and exhibition of handicrafts and its export. It will help in getting orders and distributing them, government of India's Handicrafts Marketing & Service Extension Centre assistant director S C Devaramani told Business Standard.
Mysore is a good hub for exports of handicraft items. It produces attractive items of inlay, sandalwood, terracotta, wood carvings, wooden toys and furniture.
The agarbathi exports can be doubled from the present Rs 15 crore within a couple of years.
The JSS institution is trying to collaborate with an Australian firm, which has its branch in Bangalore for export of items to that country.
In the backdrop of this, the Rs 2 crore centre would fulfill the long-felt need to help the artisans build up their export market, he added.
