Poor supply irks TN petroleum dealers

BS Reporter Chennai/ Trichy
The Tamil Nadu Petroleum Dealers Association (TPDA) has expressed its dissatisfaction over the poor supply of diesel and petrol by oil companies.

The association has decided to stage an agitation on February 21 at the IOC's bulk outlet at Vazhavanthankottai near here, SP Kumarappan, general secretary, TPDA, told the media. The situation was even worse in rural areas and semi-urban locations, he added.

There are about 250 retail outlets in the districts of Trichy, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Perambalur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Karaikal and almost 70 per cent of the petrol pumps had denied regular supply to their clients for the last 15 days.

He said about 36,800 kl petrol and diesel was sold in these seven districts in a month. The total requirement was at 44160 kl. However, going by the way the oil companies were supplying, this would not exceed even 25,000 kl a month.
