Senate confirms Clinton appointment

The nomination of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State in the Obama administration, which was put off for a day due to opposition from a Republican lawmaker, was on Thursday confirmed by the US Senate with an overwhelming majority.
Ninety four Senators voted in favour of Clinton whereas two voted against. Republicans and Democrats unanimously said her confirmation was essential.
