Suvarna Karnataka celebration

As part of the Suvarna Karnataka celebration, the state government has chosen 224 villages in each assembly constituency to be developed under the Kugrama-Suvarna Grama Yojana (KSGY).
 
Minister for rural development and panchayat raj Basavaraj Horatti inaugurated the programme at Kongawad village in Navalgund taluk in Dharwad district.
 
The village chosen will be developed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh. The blueprint for providing the basic infrastructure has been prepared and work will be completed in two years. The state government has already released Rs 5 lakh to each of the chosen village. The scheme will be implemented through NGOs.
 
Basavaraj Horatti said that the villages that lacked basic amenities have been chosen for implementing the scheme. Five villages in Dharwad district "" Hindasgeri, Agrahara Timmasagar, B Aralikatti, Chikkagunjihala and Kongawad - have been chosen for the project.
