Uttaranchal land use rules to change

BS Reporter New Delhi/ Dehra Dun
Three years after the Land Reforms Act was passed, the Uttaranchal government is now considering whether to provide some relaxation in the stringent law for industrialisation as well as construction activities.

The Mussoorie-Dehra Dun Development Authority (MDDA) is preparing a blue-print that would make the process of changing the land-use pattern much easier in the state capital.

"People will not have to wait long to get permission to use land for a different purpose," an MDDA official said.

This relaxation is contrary to the spirit of the Land Reforms Act, 2003, passed by the assembly.

The prices of land in Dehra Dun have appreciated exorbitantly over the past six years, due to which several private construction companies are now constructing housing societies in various parts of the city.
