Re slips to 43.74/$, gilts steady

The spot rupee, which opened at 43.70 per dollar, closed on a weak note at 43.74 per dollar on buying by an oil company.

Sentiment continued to be bearish in the government securities market. Gilt prices moved in a range of 5-7 paise amid lacklustre trading.

The 10-year, 7.38% 2,015 bond closed at an yield of 7%.

Call rates ruled at 4.75%, and reverse repo bids totalled Rs 31,000 crore.
