Rupee up 19 paise at 54.43/dollar in early trade

The rupee today gained 19 paise to 54.43 against the dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today on increased selling of the US currency by exporters.
Besides, strengthening of yen and euro against the dollar in overseas market and a higher opening in the equity market also supported the rupee, forex dealers said.
The rupee had lost 10 paise to close at 54.62 yesterday.
Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose by 171.38 points, or 0.93%, to 18,529.18 in early trade today.
