Paresh Mokashi, director of 'Elizabeth Ekadashi', opening feature film of Indian Panorama, Nittin Keni the producer of the film, Shabnam Sukhdev, the director of 'The Last Adieu', opening non-feature film of Indian Panorama and V. S. Kundu, Director General, Films Division interacted with the media today at the 45th IFFI.
Speaking about his film Paresh Mokashi said that it is about human emotions and is very close to the Marathi culture. The film explores scientific curiosity of the children. He further said that 'Elizabeth Ekadeshi' contains hints of his childhood days spent in Maharashtra.
On the question of stagnation in Marathi cinema, Nittin Keni said that Marathi cinema is evolving and there exists natural talent in Maharashtra for theatre and cinema. Young directors are coming out with great films and new ideas. He emphasized on proper marketing of regional films.
Speaking about the idea of the film Shabnam Sukhdev said that the film is result of her personal quest to unravel the past life and make a film on her film-maker father, 'Sukhdev' . With the help of archival audio recordings, old photographs and Sukhdev's films, she made the movie on renowned documentary film-maker father. It was her father's larger than life character that inspired the making of this film.
Interacting with the media, V.S. Kundu said that 'The Last Adieu' is not only about personal journey of 'Sukhdev' but also the development of documentary film making of that era. He said that Sukdev's genius has grown over the years and the influence is very much visible in the present generation of documentary film makers. Speaking about the role of Films Division he said that the organization respects individual vision and encourages passionate film makers to make good films.
