Training to Women through Khadi Gramodyog

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission(KVIC)/ State/Union Territory Khadi and Village Industries Boards(KVIBs) have been imparting skill development training and organizing Enterpreneurship Development Programmes(EDPs) under Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme(PMEGP) to promote entrepreneurship including women entrepreneurs. They conduct specialized training programmes related to Khadi and Village Industries(KVI), management training and Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAPs) and EDPs. The duration of the training is flexible and varies from 1 week to 15 month, depending upon the trade, purpose and level of training such as managerial, supervisory or artisan oriented, entrepreneur oriented, skill up-gradation etc. Under PMEGP, EDP training is a mandatory requirement
 
PMEGP, a credit-linked subsidy programme is being implemented with KVIC as nodal agency at the national level for generating employment in the Country by setting up of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector. At the State/Union Territories level, the scheme is implemented through field offices of KVIC, State/Union Territory KVIBs and District Industries Centres (DICs) with the involvement of Banks. Under PMEGP, margin money subsidy is provided for setting up micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector in the country including Tamil Nadu. Under the programme, special category beneficiaries including women, are provided margin money subsidy at a higher rate of 35 per cent in rural areas and 25 per cent in urban areas as compared to 25 per cent and 15 per cent respectively for general category. The maximum cost of project is Rs 25 lakh in the manufacturing sector and Rs 10 lakh in the service sector.
