Taliban militants have captured a district in Afghanistan's Kunduz province on Saturday, officials said.
"Dozens of armed militants overran Khan Abad district early Saturday morning. Sporadic clashes were continuing around the district's office buildings as security forces were trying to repel the attack," Qudratullah Safi, district executive officer, told Xinhua news agency.
The district is located some 25 km east of the provincial capital of Kunduz city.
The main highway connecting Kunduz to the neighbouring Takhar province also passes through the district.
