Global firms throng IIM-B for summer interns

| Investment banking and management consulting firms dominated the scene during the summer internship at the IIM-B campus. Of the 249 students who got the internship offers, 68 per cent accounted for investment banking followed by 17 per cent for management consulting firms. |
| The summer internship is considered an indicator of the hiring trends at most of the IIMs during the final placement. Most students manage to get pre-placement offers (PPOs) in companies where they intern. |
| Of the 253 students in IIM-B who did their summer internships during 2006-07, about 90 students have been given PPOs by the respective companies. |
| "Usually over 40 per cent of the students in any batch do not have any work experience. The summer internship programme provides them an opportunity to work in a business environment and to hone their skills for the final placement. |
