IIM-B board to meet on fee hike

IIM-Bangalore is considering a proposal to hike the fee, a step reflecting that of other IIMs across the country. Pankaj Chandra, director, IIM-B said the board of the B-school was meeting this month, to take a final decision in this regard.
"We are in the process of finalising that. The fee may go upwards. The final decision will be taken at our next board meeting on 25th of this month," Chandra told reporters here on Monday.
IIM-B is also planning to significantly increase its faculty strength in the coming years. The number of full-time faculties in IIM-B presently stands at 85, which will go up to 120 in three years time, of which three new additions will be made this year. Besides, the management school has about 33-odd visiting faculties.
Going by the international standards in premier B-schools, the student-faculty ratio should have been 7:1, whereas the ratio at IIM-B presently stands around 13:1, according to official sources.
On opening a campus in Singapore, the IIM-B director said the process was still on. "We are in the process of re-drafting the MoU." The MoU, signed by the IIM society and the government, does not allow it to set up campuses abroad.
On the issue of the OBC quota, IIM-B director said, they would go by the Supreme Court verdict.
