IIMA discusses gender issues

The impact of recession on gender isses, gender responsive budgeting, women entrepreneurship and gender policies with its legal aspects were a few subjects discussed at the Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity (GEDI) seminar hosted by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) at its campus today.

The one-day seminar began with short presentations by a panel comprising four speakers addressing gender issues from the perspective of four key players in the domain including government, NGOs, corporate and academia. The panel comprised of danseuse and activist Mallika Sarabhai, Srimathi Shivashankar, principal diversity officer, Infosys, Sunaina Tomar, secretary, women and child development department, Government of Gujarat and Anil Gupta, faculty at IIMA. The seminar focussed on the need to amend, change, and fortify existing policies, procedures and processes to bring about a common platform to work on gender-related issues.
