The entrepreneurship cell of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) has launched its annual business plan competition, branded 'Ideas to Implementation' (i2I).

A release issued by IIMC said i2I was one of the biggest business plan competitions of its kind in the continent, with participation from budding enterpreneurs across the globe.

The aim of the contest was to foster entrepreneurial spirit of the managers of the future by providing a platform for presentation of ideas to a distinguished panel of judges, ultimately transforming them into successful business ventures.

The i2I competition was open to all young students, executives, enterpreneurs, who could submit their plans and try to see it being implemented.

This year, the competition would be held over three months. It would have three stages.

In the first, the teams would have to submit executive summaries by the deadline of December 20, 2004.

In the second stage, teams would be required to submit detailed business plans by January 5, 2005.

Based on the executive summaries and business plans, the judges would select the best business plans for the final battle of business vision in February.

First launched in 2000, i2I has over the years gained in popularity and support, IIMC said.

In 2003, the competition attracted more than 400 entries from all over the world and was won by an enterprenuer from Singapore.

This year, IIMC said it expected the response to be greater than earlier years.
