Illinois Tech to expand in India

The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago plans to expand its course offerings. It offers post-graduate degrees through distance education programmes, at its centres in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai.

The institute will now also offer courses in product design, urban development sustainability and food technology.

IIT-Chicago which began offering professional master’s programs via streamed video in India in 1997, has more than 300 Indian engineers who have earned US master’s degree so far. The two-year programme is priced at $10,000, one fourth the price of $40,000 that a student would have to spend on the IIT-Chicago campus.
